The accused, 40-year-old Alexandra Bialousow, is facing charges of negligently allowing fire to spread and violating fire regulations. However, her lawyer, Jonny McCoy, insists she’s a scapegoat and says he has proof that investigators misled the public.

Another key piece of evidence McCoy presented is a video showing Bialousow using a garden hose to put out flames near her home. The footage, allegedly taken on March 1, contradicts accusations that she had no access to water to control the fire.

“I have been handling cases in Horry County for 15 years, and this kind of behavior from the authorities is nothing new,” McCoy stated. “They lie, they exaggerate, and when they get caught, there are no consequences.”
As the legal battle unfolds, Bialousow is also considering a defamation lawsuit against those who have publicly blamed her. The single mother of two has reportedly received threats and has been placed on administrative leave from her job.
“She’s been called an idiot online. People are saying she should be responsible for all 2,000 acres,” McCoy said. “But the reality is, there is video evidence that proves otherwise.”
