To kick of the summer of 2013, Disney has announced that three of its numerous amusement parks will be open for 24 hours over Memorial Day weekend. Disney Parks Blog announced that Florida’s Magic Kingdom, and California’s Disneyland and California Adventure parks will be open from 6 a.m. on Friday, May 24, until 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 26.
This exciting Disney event will feature a Monsters University theme at all three of the amusement parks, in order to advertise for the June 21 premiere of the much-anticipated prequel to the beloved Disney-Pixar film Monsters Inc. Florida’s Magic Kingdom is scheduled to feature characters from Monsters University, such as Mike and Sulley in their “Celebrate a Dream Come True” day parade. Additionally, there will be added entertainment, appearances by characters in their pajamas, and dance parties in the Cinderella Castle courtyard during the late night portion.
On the west coast, Disneyland and California Adventure will keep up the Monsters University theme by including a “TLT Monstrous” dance club and opportunities to visit the newly-developed Monsters University dorms on Hollywood Lane. Like Magic Kingdom, the California parks will also feature added entertainment and an assortment of pajama-clad characters. Additionally, Disneyland’s Fantasy Faire Royal Theatre will be transformed into a royal dance hall that includes a live band.
The 24-hour opening is poised to be a dream-come-true for many Disney fans, and people from coast to coast are already planning their all-nighter at each of these “Happiest Places on Earth.”
