In an attempt to bring Branham’s vast diversity to light, our school has organized a week full of multi-cultural activities (April 29-May 3). The regions which will be highlighted are Europe, India, Africa, Asia, The Middle East, The Pacific Islands, and Latin America. Every day there will be music, activities, and entertainment from each of these countries to express the many different cultures found in the lives of the Bruins. Everyone is invited to get involved with this event; all students are welcome to bring a foreign, recipe from their ethnicity to share with others. These festivities will be held at lunch in the quad.
Branham’s assortment of cultures is a very distinct aspect of our student life, and it is important that it be recognized. This is the first time our school has put on something like this, where all ethnicities are acknowledged. In the past clubs usually just put on an event focusing on a single culture, such as a Cinco De Mayo or Chinese New Year celebration.
It is vital for students to realize the significance of a mixture of cultures as well as customs that come from all around the world. This celebration is just the solution our school needs to spread awareness and appreciation for our diverse campus.
The week’s breakdown for each day is as follows:
- Monday: Europe
- Tuesday: The Middle East & India
- Wednesday: Asia & The PacificIslands
- Thursday: Africa
- Friday: Latin America
